If you’re reading this, thank you. Since I launched ARCHITECHT in January, I have been flattered by every new subscriber and the quality of the readership as a whole. Knowing I was helping already-smart readers sort through and make sense of the daily news deluge was validation of ARCHITECHT’s value.
However, of all the things I learned over the past year, one of the biggest lessons is that growing a business from nothing into something meaningful is really hard. (Shocking, I know.) Keeping quality high on the newsletter, podcast and website is a full-time job in itself, which does not leave a lot of time or energy for equally important functions such as sales, marketing and being part of my family.
So, I’m sorry to say that, absent some unforeseen event, this will be the last ARCHITECHT newsletter. Today’s ARCHITECHT Show podcast episode (with Etsy CTO Mike Fisher) will also likely be the last. (I do hope to resume podcasting in some form once I am settled into a new gig, but I’m not sure right now whether that will be under the ARCHITECHT Show brand and feed, or something new.)
I’m going to take a few weeks to figure out what to do next, so if you have ideas I’m happy to discuss them.
Oh, and a few things you’ll want to read
Mostly, like yesterday, out of the NIPS artificial intelligence conference and KubeCon Kubernetes conference. It’s a slow time of year in enterprise IT news, but there’s a lot of cool stuff happening at these two events, and there’s always a lot of good discussion taking place about the future of AI.
Here’s what’s new at KubeCon:
And from NIPS. You absolutely should read all of these, as they get to some of the fundamental issues facing AI research and commercialization:
